Queen, who do you aspire to be? Do you see yourself one day being a future CEO, app developer, doctor or choreographer? If so, I Am A Queen encourages you to follow your dreams and is here in this community to give you the proper tools to make your dreams happen.

With the world constantly changing, and women stepping up in leadership roles, it’s imperative that we teach young girls the importance of pursuing higher education. The very first step to accomplishing goals is through education and empowering the mind. There are some stereotypes that believe young women usually are not skilled enough or are not interested in math or science, which is why girls make up a small percentage of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs. According to research, women are more likely to go in to careers that focus on art and dance; women make up 30 percent of entrepreneur businesses in the U.S., and thirty percent of major technology companies.

However, I Am A Queen, a women’s empowerment nonprofit believes differently and is going to break barriers this summer with its annual teen empowerment conference that will expose girls to various career opportunities that will give them hands on experience. The organization’s mission is to uphold women in a high standard in their community. To educate and provide services that can change lives and to always be a blessing to others by providing charitable deeds.

On Saturday, July 16, 2016, I Am A Queen will host the 4th annual “Power of I Am” Teen Empowerment Conference at the Power Play Center, located at 2207-A East Cone Blvd., Greensboro, N.C. The event is free for teen girls ages 10-18. The conference will include core programs on self-worth, the dangers of social media, bullying and branding. The conference will also have breakout sessions on entrepreneurship, technology, African dance and art. The primary goal of the conference is to spark a girl’s imagination in believing in their selves and their dreams of one day becoming future business leaders, presidents and powerhouses in their communities.
