Signature Soundz

Signature Soundz was formed by Larry Graves – Bassist and Leader, in April of 2005. Graves started his music career at an early age with his brothers while writing and playing music. He was the bassist for Greensboro based bands Covacus & Sweet Dreams. From there he went on to play for Tom Brown (Jamaican Funk), Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Gospel group Todd Curry and Focus. Later he formed a local band known as Fatjoy which enjoyed much success under his leadership. Graves has worked with numerous local bands, musicians, and churches. He is in high demand in choirs, churches, and in studio sessions. His melodic and funky style is enough to get anyone into the groove.

Graves, Jeff, and Derrick played together off and on, for several years, with many different bands. In April of 2005, they decided to join forces and formed the Signature Soundz band. They have evolved over the last six years into one of Greensboro’s finest band, specializing in Jazz, R&B, Blues, Neo-Soul, and Gospel. Each member of Signature Soundz is a well rounded musician. They have played, sang and entertained audiences in many venues and settings from Sunday morning Praise and Worship, Wedding ceremonies, receptions, and small acoustic jazz venues and at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. They have opened for the Commodores as the back-up band for international recording artist Sybil. Graves says there is no performance is too big or too small for Signature Soundz.

They have played for the NAACP’s Annual Harvest Ball, the International Civil Rights Museum’s Black and White Ball, Club Fifth Seasons, and various private functions throughout the Southeastern United States. Each member of Signature Soundz uses their gift of music to make listeners feel good.
Kerry started singing in church choirs at the age of four. By the wise old age of six, she had experienced her first time leading the choir through a song, one Sunday morning. Continuing on through her life, she has sang in many churches and received many accolades for directing the youth choir at Chapel Hill when she was 14 to her work teaching children to sing and record in the studio. It is easy to recognize her passion for singing. Live in person, Kerry delivers the real thing.

Derrick is a multi-talented musician and has worked professionally with American Idol runner up Diana DeGarmo, Teddy Riley formally of Guy and Blackstreet. Derrick is the Director of Music at two large churches in Charlotte, NC, where he operates his production facility and publishing company. A talented musician, producer and songwriter, he is destined for greatness.
Maurice plays with numerous local bands in the Triad area, (High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem). He is also Director of Music at a church in Kernersville, NC. His smooth drumming, technical prowess, tight pocket and first tenor vocal range are the foundation of an experience you don’t want to miss.

Robin grew up a preacher’s kid, “PK” in Greensboro. While playing Keyz & Drumz from a very early age, she went on to play in her high school marching band, enabling her to play with some of the most talented musicians and artists in the area. She has played with local bands Kilowatt, Covacus, Ebonique, and the world famous Barbara Weathers of Atlantic Star. She has performed in opening acts for Boney James, BWB, Cameo, and many others. Robin’s love for perfection and creativity are topped only by her love for God.

Signature Soundz work very closely with a host of other talented individuals, including a 3-piece horn section, and several very talented Saxophone players. “We bring it… whatever you want to hear, that is,” says Graves.
